Ep. 134 | Girls Mentorship – Exploring Parenting In The Digital Age

ASHISH NATHU

October 24, 2023

8:00 am

Meet Jill and Mary, two women who, in 2020, decided to become beacons of change for young girls. They noticed that despite the passage of two decades, issues like confidence, negative self-talk, and anxiety persisted among young girls. This realization inspired them to create Girls Mentorship. Their vision was clear: they wanted to extend a helping hand to the young girls who mirrored their past selves. Their mission? To enrich the social-emotional learning skills of these girls, guiding them on a path towards discovering the brightest, most confident versions of themselves.

In this episode, we talked about the powerful influence of social media in today's world and how it shapes young girls' self-perceptions, often leading to unrealistic expectations. Our guests reflect on their evolving strategies and models in addressing these challenges, highlighting the importance of online learning to scale their Girls Mentorship community.

We also dive into valuable guidance for parents, emphasizing the need to set aside ego and embrace a beginner's mindset. We also touch on the portrayal of parenting in social media, the role of comparison as a source of inspiration, and the significance of saying "yes" and "no" when it comes to parenting.
